Welcome!
A big welcome to all the students in my grade 5 class. Today was a busy day of introductions, discussing rules and routines, an ice breaker activity and a scavenger hunt. We learned some things about each other and are looking forward to getting to know each other better throughout the year. Wishing everyone a good weekend and if you are going to the parade, Fair or rodeo have fun! See you on Monday! :)

Winter Activity Day
EBEYS Winter Activity day is on Friday the 27th. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. We are looking forward to having fun enjoying time in the snow. Let's keep our fingers crossed for suitable temperatures. The students are going to be part of teams throughout the school or are going to help out with stations as grade 5 leaders. Way to go guys! There will be students from all grades on each team. We will be making new friends and during the day we will be trading our bracelets, which will be handed out at the beginning of the day, with one new friend.
Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day to Everyone!
The students had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine's Day with the class. Thank you to all the students and their families who contributed food and treats for our classroom party. We played a game that Renee presented for her TUSC presentation. She talked about a world record that we wanted to try. The world record for most smarties picked up with chopsticks, blindfolded within a minute is 20. Well, we changed the rules slightly and had a great time. We did not blindfold anyone and the chopsticks we used had a spring on the end. As luck would have it, Renee picked up the most smarties in a minute. Way to go class and rise up for the challenge! We also played musical chairs and the students were allowed to bring their electronics to school during the party. The students enjoyed making their Valentine mailbox of their choice. There were some really creative ones, so the students wanted to have a creative mailbox contest. Congratulations to Evan!

Spirit Week
Spirit Week
Monday - Funky Hair and Hat Day
Tuesday - Backwards Day
Wednesday - PJ Day
Thursday - Fluorescent Clothing Day
Friday - Sports Day (Staff/Student hockey and ringette games)
Spirit Week was a lot of fun! There were some cool hats and funky hair on Monday. Tuesday, Backwards day, was interesting to say the least. On Wednesday it was a cozy day. Some students brought their stuffies and blankets to school. We started watching the movie Daddy Daycare during our snack and lunch breaks. It's a really funny movie. For Fluorescent Clothing Day there were a lot of bright colours in the school, to the point of squinting. And finally, Friday was a day of students dressing up in their favourite sports. At the end of the day the whole school walked over to Sungro Center to watch the Staff vs. Students hockey and ringette games.
